After a flurry of speculation it was announced today that Quang Dang (formerly of West and Rare) is joining C Restaurant as Chef de Cuisine. From the press release:

Harry Kambolis, owner of C Restaurant, is pleased to welcome Quang Dang to the kitchen brigade. Dang assumes the position of Chef de Cuisine under Executive Chef Robert Clark. Most recently at Rare Restaurant, but with a pedigree that includes the likes of Vancouver top spots such as West and Diva at the Met, Dang fits into the C team seamlessly.

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2007 Dine Out Vancouver restaurants.

After a couple of years of DOVing, I’ve more or less decided to take a break from it this year. Nothing personal, but I’ve just never been terribly impressed with my meal, at least enough to make it worth braving the often sizable crowds. That’s not to say that several of the restaurants this year aren’t presenting some interesting menus. I’d be especially interested in trying the critical darling Gastropod, who is offering a $25 menu ($20 less than their usual prix fixe). Gastropod and many other can be booked on open table.
